Natalie Cole Signs With Verve
Singer Reunites with Unforgettable Producer LiPuma
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2002 — The Verve Music Group has signed Natalie Cole to Verve Records. The deal reunites Cole with Verve chairman Tommy LiPuma, who produced her 1991 release Unforgettable, which featured a duet with her late father Nat on the album's title track.

Cole and LiPuma are currently putting the finishing touches on Cole's Verve debut, which is scheduled for a fall 2002 release.
"Working with Tommy again is like returning home," said Cole. "He is so good with this kind of music. I feel very fortunate that he really understands what I do, which is evidenced by Unforgettable, and the new album. We have grown together and we are very compatible. I am looking forward to more great work with Tommy and Verve."
"It is an honor to work with Natalie again after all these years," said LiPuma. "I am thrilled that she has joined the Verve family and that she will be continuing in the great tradition of vocalists that have always been a cornerstone of Verve Records."
Earlier this year, LiPuma passed the role of Verve Music Group CEO to president Ron Goldstein to allow the chairman to devote more time to producing and artist development. ![]()
