Hi B.H. and Blaise,
I'm not sure who puts together the Newport Trips for WGBH. It may be the
same person who is in charge of what is called WGBH Learning Tours. WGBH
does several big trips a year. We haven't done much jazz related
however. As for jazz related trips we have gone to Marciac France, to
Montreal to the Jazz Fest and then east from there in Canada and another
trip called the Jazz and Blues tour that went from New Orleans to
Memphis to St. Louis to Chicago.
I tried for years to get WGBH to go to Newport. Every time I suggested
it somebody would say how great an idea it was but nothing would happen.
Finally about 5 years ago we started going down just on Saturday. About
2 or 3 years ago we started going on both Saturday and Sunday. I think
the idea has been so successful that we now go to the Newport Folk
Festival and I believe we also go to several nearby classical festivals.
I have asked about a name to give you to answer your question and I'll
get back to you as soon as I hear something.

The CD has received rave reviews, and many stations jumped early on the music, already placing it in the most added section on two radio charts. As the producer, as well as the composer and pianist, Hilton finds the early response gratifying:

I think Christian McBride, Lewis Nash, Jeremy Pelt and Steve Wilson did an amazing job with the music, and it's thrilling that we're getting a strong response right away''. www.LisaHiltonMusic.com
