While our esteemed forum member Eric Jackson is in the San Francisco Bay
area this weekend, I'll be in the Tampa Bay area this weekend on a grave
family matter. I hope to have some night time to myself so I can go out and
enjoy music. I have been in contact with Bob Seymour and we hope to hook up.
When visiting family in a life or death situation it is hard to relax and go
out, but music is therapuetic for me-after all love, laughter and music are
the 3 best medicines. Most of my family lives near the Ybor City district so
I'm sure I'll have a chance to eat the Tampa style "Cuban" sandwich which
unlike Miami has Italian cold cuts too, a nod to the Cuban & Italian
influence of Tampa going back to the 1880s.

Kenny Drew Jr used to live in the Tampa-St Pete area, perhaps he still does
and will be playing somewhere. today we had the husband-wife team of pianist
Mike Wofford and flutist Holly Hoffmann play live in our Oasis Performance
Studio in front of a small audience as well as live over the air and web
streaming, they played some selections for their latest album for Colorado's
Capri Records, Live at the Athenaeum Jazz, Capri's president Tom Burns was
part of the intimate studio audience. Next up, Thursday August 30th we will
have our 22nd Anniversary live concert with Rickey "The Body" Woodard, Paul
Bollenbach and the Denver trio of Henry Butler, Ken Walker and Paul Romaine.
We expect over 200 special members and sponsors present for the pre-concert
mixer. The music begins at 6pm MTN time and can be heard on www.kuvo.org
