I'm not sure why you won't call the man Rahsaan. Obviously that's what
he wanted be called. I do know because I saw it happen that he got very
upset with some people for refusing to call him Rahsaan. He considered
it disrespectful.

PG:
My apologies - No disrespect intended! - Just laziness, perhaps.
I invented an instrument about 25 years ago that had long brass tubes
hanging from a wood frame and I tuned it to a unique scale using
microtonal tunings. Because the sound reverberated for so long, I was
reminded of Rahsaan's circular breathing (the first person I ever heard
exhibiting this technique - I've since spent 27 years mastering the
technique) - so I called it a Rahsaan-o-phone. Believe me: I have
nothing but respect for him.
And don't think it's a racist thing: I had the Muslim symbol (crescent
moon and star) tattooed on my arm out of solidarity with the brothers
and sisters in the Middle East when we invaded Iraq.
