SPECIAL EDITION: IF IT’S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION…McLaughin, Tony Williams & Jaco…THE TRIO OF DOOM! Every Friday we present an exclusive Beyond Jazz feature that focuses on the moment in jazz history when the music became electric and all the mu sical influences of the world blended with jazz to create the Fusion Era. Well this week we’ll start each hour beginning at 7 AM Eastern/4 AM Pacific until midnight Eastern/9 PM Pacific with a cut from a release we’ve waited 28 years to hear…the night in March of 1979 when John McLaughin, Tony Williams and Jaco Pastorius, dubbed by Jaco “The Trio Of Doom,” blew away the audience in a one of a kind concert in Havana, Cuba. After the short concert this short-lived supergroup returned to New York to record the songs they’d played in Cuba in the studio, and you’ll hear them all on this SPECIAL EDITION of IF IT’S FRIDAY, THIS MUST BE FUSION featuring McLaughin, Tony Williams & Jaco…THE TRIO OF DOOM!
