[JPL] John McWhorter on Will Marion Cook

Thanks for posting this Tom. Insightful indeed. I had known about Cook through my research on James Reese Europe...when it was noted that Europe wasn't the first African American artist to perform at Carnegie Hall. At the time the person who did wasn't mentioned so I deepen my study to find out who it was. Cook was a fascinating figure that more than likely got the "Big Five" composers thinking of incorporating more rhythmic variation in their music.
