[JPL] A library question...

Aloha Claudia,
For us, "currents" go 8-13 weeks, but typically these days a Heavy goes
9-10 weeks. Re-currents stay in a "New to the Library" section for 3 or
4 weeks before getting rotated into the library. We typically add the
entire CD, unless there is an inappropriate track. I (or someone on my
staff) try to identify key or focus trax, but I leave it up to the DJ to
program the track for his/her show.
Hope all is well in S.D., from up here in S.J.!
The light is on.

Subject: [JPL] A library question...
Greetings Jazz Gurus,
How long do you keep currents "current" and how long do you keep
releases in
the "re-current" section? Also, when you add new music (or if you have
retro-fitted your music library, as we are about to do)...are you adding
an
entire CD or do you select only a few cuts for air.
In the past, we have allowed our announcers to play any viable cut from
a CD,
something I have enjoyed because it really opens up the musical
possibilities
and prevents us from creating "hit" radio. But, our library is out of
control now and we will begin a serious effort in the early part of next
year
to tame the beast.
I'd love to hear from programmers and from artists/industry people as
well on
this.
Many thanks in advance,
Claudia
