[JPL] PLAYLIST: "General Eclectic", WCVF-FM, 12/12/08 - Back On the Internet!

Well, the big news this week is that "General Eclectic" is back on the
Internet, streaming every Friday morning from 10 till noon on Live 365. You
can access it via the WCVF link at http://www.fredoniaradio.com  Coming up
this week will be my annual Christmas show. But that's not exactly
representative of what I normally do, because I can get pretty sappy and
gooey around the Holidays. The next two weeks after that, the whole station
will be on automation, as the University tries to save a few budget-strained
bucks by shutting down the entire campus - water, heat, and all. So January
9 will be your first chance to hear the "real" "General Eclectic" show,
should you so desire.
We had our first call from an Internet listener 5 minutes into the show this
week, someone who was really digging Avishai Cohen and called all the way
from New York City (the other end of the state, 400 miles away). The Elvis
Presley/Martina McBride duet also set the phones to ringing. The Tony
Bennett Christmas CD showed up with about 20 minutes to spare, and I put it
on without listening to it first, which I rarely if ever do. But if you
can't depend on Tony Bennett, who can you depend on? For those unfamiliar
with Michael Perlowin, he plays classical orchestral masterworks on the
pedal steel guitar, and it works superbly. To the list:
