PREMIER SUNDAY on Beyond Jazz…XM 72
We’ve got a ton of new projects for the new year to spring on you this Sunday, January 13th, as we present another Premier Sunday here on Beyond Jazz.

First, it’s a trip to South Florida as Miami-based and Cuban-born violinist, Pedro Alfonso, with a little help from the likes of Al Di Meola and Paquito D’Rivera, unleashes his unique brand of modern Latin groove on his new CD “Strings To Your Heart.” We’ll follow that with the South Florida guitar groove of Jon Zeeman on his new one titled “Zeeland.”

Then it’s a trip to Sweden for some of that unique MOJA like only the Scandinavians can create. Thanks to the good people of The Swedish Music Information Centre you’ll hear two great, new works, first from the group known as Alea blending electronics and acoustics on their new work titled “The Skin We’re In,” followed by music from a man who could probably be called the John Medeski of Sweden, Mathias Landaeus, who plays 7 different keyboards on his new CD titled “Goes A Long Long Way.”

Then we’ll travel over to the funky side of town for the music of a funky little band from Tennessee called Mr. Groove with the help of saxman Bill Evans on their new one they call “Little Things.” Then it’s an international band led by Canadian-born multi-instrumentalist David Levy that calls themselves Out To Lunch. The band includes members from Boston, Virginia and even the Czech Republic and they groove from the giddy-up on their new CD “Excuse Me While I Do The Boogaloo.”

Listen for cuts from these six cool, new releases beginning at 5 PM Eastern/2 PM Pacific, on another Premier Sunday…part of The Sunday Specials from XM 72, Beyond Jazz.
