Greetings Bobby, Jae, Larry and other JPL community members in/enroute to
Toronto,
I wish all of you an inspiring experience with the best company and music
around.
For those of you with long flights, may I suggest Bill Strickland's
autobiography, MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE as an incredibly inspirational journey. I
have never met Bill, but I do know Marty Ashby who has worked with Bill at the
Manchester Craftsmen's Guild Jazz program for over 21 years. And if you know
Marty, you can imagine the profound relationship that Bill has with jazz, how
it has informed and inspired the tremendous successes in his life. I can say
that, like jazz, Bill's words, achievements and passion have profoundly changed
mine. Others singing Bill's praises: Quincy Jones ("he is definitely one of my
major heroes"), Nancy Wilson, John Levy . . . Pardon me if this book has
already been extolled in the JPL, and if so, perhaps others can take the next
chorus.
You can find out more and see some fabulous video clips of Bill Strickland
