Indeed I will also be playing that this weekend, along with the Liberation
Music Orchestra.
Our normal (classical) broadcast day at WCLV will include hours of American
music, largely in a patriotic vein. In this context, I think it's helpful to
show some well-performed other views.

And as far as the music goes, classical composers at least since the 18th
century have taken many different national anthems as the basis for
innumerable sets of variations (the main intention of which is to show off a
performer's skills more than the music itself), as well as using such themes
for development in larger-scale orchestral works.
