Just received this from Cobi Narita (Universal Jazz Coalition):

Hi,
For those of you who know and love Joe Lee Wilson (as I do), I'm sending you
some information on his health. For the young who may not know his name, he
is one of the world's finest male singer of songs, specially jazz. What I
most enjoy about him is the absolute joy he expresses when he sings. Please
forward this email to anyone you know who knows Joe Lee.

i heard from his wife Jill Wilson several days ago that he is in St.
Vincent's Hospital. She says Joe Lee has heart failure with some other
complicarions but is being well cared for at St. Vincents.  He's enjoying
phone calls and visits. He hopes to be out in the next day or two as he has
gigs in New Jersey with Spirit of Life and June 10 at Bahai Center which h e
wants to fulfill. Today (Friday, the 30th) they took him down for an
angiogram and fitted him with a defibrillator (sp?). He seems to have come
through everything fine. He may sleep during the day after meals but is
usually awake early in the am and after 2 p.m.

They keep changing his room and phone number. His new tel number is
212.604.5433. He's on Floor 11 West, in Rm 3, in the Coleman building. If
you can't reach him, or if he's been moved, call St Vincent's Patient
Information: 212/604-7070. He's registered under Joseph Wilson. Ask for his
floor nurse if you can't reach him (they gave me the wrong number) and ask
for his correct phone number and room number.

Since Joe Lee is hoping to be out of the hospital soon, it's better to send
cards c/o Charles and Lori Davis who have been keeping track of their mail.
So address your cards to: Joe Lee Wilson, c/o Charles Davis, 201 E. 19th
Street, Apt. 9E, New York, NY 10013. After Joe Lee completes his gig, they
plan on leaving the U.S. (around June 16th) so send your cards soon.

As you know, when you're under the weather, there's nothing like a jolly
card to cheer you up! I know!

love,
cob
