[JPL] PLAYLIST: "General Eclectic", WCVF-FM, 6/13/08

OK, so I'm late again. My goal had been to always post my playlist on the
day of the show. Now, a more realistic goal would appear to be to post it
before the next show (which is tomorrow).
Movin' Melvin Brown really got the phones movin'. I had intended to play
this track on at least three different occasions and it always got bounced
for some reason. When I finally put it on, the response was strong and
immediate. It reminds me of vintage Joe Tex, but one caller was reminded
more of Percy Sledge - and I won't argue that point. I could also picture
Otis Redding doing this song. Pretty good references, I'd say.
Other calls came in support of jazz pianist Roberta Piket, the
Brazilian-flavored sounds of Yemanja, bluesman Mac Arnold, Canadian reggae
star Blessed, the very up-to-date octagenarian jazz vet Chico Hamilton,
Americana singer Stephanie Corby, and and the awesome duet of Glenna Bell
