1. On radio station WHPK 88.5 FM Chicago, The Pride of the Southside,
www.whpk.org, I will spin an audio "Fred Anderson birthday party" this
Sunday morning from 3 to 6 a.m. That's the wee hours of Sunday, March
16, 2008. The tribute will include music that influenced Fred, music
that he likes and music he has recorded.

2. Next week, the much-loved creative musician will be celebrating his
79th birthday in person. That's Saturday night March 22, 2008, at his
club, the Velvet Lounge, 67 E. Cermak Road, in Chicago. The Nicole
Mitchell Quartet will be playing live sets that night on the Velvet
stage, www.velvetlounge.net.
