Yes, Patti Austin would definitely be a great choice with the right band.
We're also high on Jamie Davis, whose full, deep, rich baritone voice has
fronted the later Count Basie Orchestra.  He's a real pro and a warm,
congenial person.  www.jamiedavis.com  As is Jackie Ryan, whose full
contralto voice would be an equally fine choice. She has appeared with
several big bands. www.jackieryanmusic.com The latter two live in the San
Francisco Bay Area and tour extensively at clubs and festivals in the U.S.
and overseas.
