[JPL] A-Trane Playlist May 9th, 2008 (and an introduction)

Hi, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks since I signed onto the
list (thanks to Tom Reney for passing along the link) but I thought
I'd jump in with a recent playlist from my show The A-Trane in
Vancouver BC and introduce myself.

I've been doing the radio show weekly (Friday afternoons) for coming
up on 23 years now, I've worked with the Coastal Jazz and Blues
Society (producers of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival) and
I've been on the board of directors for about 20 years. I've written
and given talks about jazz and other creative musics for a number of
outlets over the years including Coda Magazine, the Vancouver Public
Library and http://www.vancouverjazz.com .  I used to own a record
store, Black Swan Records in Vancouver and still have some
'subscribers' for whom I purchase music.

It's great seeing what other people are playing and seeing postings
from folks that I've only admired from afar.   Hope I can jump in and
make a contribution, thanks ... Nou

PS. the MAPL system (as Canadian broadcasters will recognize) is the
labeling system for Canadian content requirements -

Bit of a mixed bag this week, partially some upcoming jazz festival
stuff (Potter, Holland, Brubeck, Atomic/Schooldays, Maceo Parker, Coco
Zhao, Effendi Jazzlab etc.), partly upcoming shows (Korsrud/Hard
Rubber last weekend, Sharon Minemoto upcoming cd release) and all fun.

Off this week, pre-empted for some station maintenance although I
understand they'll be rebroadcasting an old show, and don't forget:
the archives are alive!
