Bobby,
You're thinking of the Jazz Museum of Harlem: http://www.jazzmuseuminharlem.org/. The New York Jazz Museum detailed in the book is from the 1970s.

> Why would anyone want to read this let alone pay for a copy? Is this the same New York Jazz Museum where Christian McBride has a large profile with? If so, I've been in it and attended a jazz talk involving McBride and his career.

> The museum is situated in a brownstone in Manhattan in East Harlem. The artifacts in it are largely photographs assembled in several collages up on the walls in perhaps one or two rooms the size of a large bedroom or living room. There is not much space and the main room was filled with about 50 chairs for people to sit, somewhat cramped while listening. It was obvious to me that there wasn't a lot of money involved and the organization would need a lot of help to really make any impact.
