It says the "nominations" will be based on popularity (i.e., Soundscan).  
This is rather like the American Music Awards, a popularity contest. Nothing  
particularly wrong with that, as long as it's not equated to some sort of peer  
recognition a-la Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, etc.

Well, well, well, when you base  awards on Soundscan you really, in my 
mind, open a can of worms and opens  up much debate on the validity of 
Soundscan.  It sounds like awards  based on sales versus musician 
expertise and creativity.  Time will  tell once the awards are
