Many moons ago, I asked Norman Lear to write a letter to Dick Clark
asking that Jazz, a great american art form be included as a category
in the Great American Music Awards. Mr. Clark wrote back saying "jazz
doesn't sell" and so it would not be considered for a slot on the show.
It sounds like a someone decided to celebrate the "niche" categories
with an award and convinced some folks the time was ripe for these
accolades. Herbie's win reinforces the current trend i.e. jazz is
becoming commercially more viable. This could good be a good thing....
Just one question, anyone know if an artist wins in two categories, are
they presented with a Louie-Louie?
lol....

hi folks:
HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING OF NOTE ABOUT THIS, but ive only been in LA 30
years
so...
the website is curious: go to links and you'll read:
"We are regularly out on the Web. When we find a great site we list it.
"
note that NO websites/links are listed--guess the www is not offering
any
"great" sites, LOL.
some interesting jazz stars listed too: andrea bocelli, jon secada etc.
wonder who will take home the "Louie's"?
tickets are just $250.
