[JPL] Broadcast Architecture press release on "theirnewestinnovation"

A lot of these artists play surprisingly well, but the BA forumla has kept most of it hidden and pretty much killed their careers now that the format is dying because it is forced to  off the UAC/NAC fence due to audience composition/sales issues.  Seems like the format has come full circle.  Good thing for festivals like the Capitol City Jazz Festival.

That's because "smooth" jazz, like many AC formats, play radio edits. These  
edits, usually done at the station) get to the hook in thirty seconds,  don't 
encourage improvisation ("no noodling") or any other technique  (scat, ethnic 
instrumentation) that upset the "smooth" feel of the music.  The artists 
usually go along with the edits as a means of promoting the release  or an upcoming 
gig. Should you happen to attend a gig or pick up a CD (not the  radio 
single), you'd be able to hear the sounds of some solid contemporary  jazz artists, 
unedited, and much appreciated by loyal fans.
