Subject: [JPL] (very) short bio on Tony Reedus

Like everyone else I am bummed by the departure of drummer Tony who hadn't
even reached the half century mark. Tony recorded with Dave Stryker who
posted the sadness on Dave's Chaser outing.

According to the liners on Reedus' debut CD The Far Side JazzCity 1989 and
re-issued by Evidence 1998, Tony was born ? 1959 in Memphis Tn which
explains his numerous dates with james Williamns, Mulgrew Miller, Harold
Mabern and other players from Memphis. Like so many other jazzers Tony came
out of the church mentored by James Williams and got his first break when
moving to NYC in 1980 and he began to play with Woody Shaw, Mercer Ellingon,
Benny Golson, Dr. Billy Taylor, Jon Faddis and others.

Looking forward to seeing an obit with more detailed bio info. Meanwhile,
AMG has a nice discography of Tony although not much else.

Arturo
