A CELEBRATION OF VINCE GUARALDI
Live Jazz, New Guaraldi Tracks, and Rev. Malcolm Boyd

In 1966, Vince Guaraldi and Rev. Malcolm Boyd caused a national
sensation
with their extraordinary collaboration of music and spoken word
performances
at San Francisco's legendary hungry i.

Vince Guaraldi was already enjoying great popularity with his
composition
"Cast Your Fate To The Wind" and his original jazz scores for the
Peanuts cartoons,
and had performed his inventive Jazz Mass at Grace Cathedral along with
Boyd the year before.

Malcolm Boyd (the original "coffee house priest") was a best selling
author, and an
outspoken participant in the Civil Rights and anti-war movements. The
New York Times
called him a "modern day Luther", and Look magazine listed him as one
of the ten
most important Americans in 1970.

On Easter Sunday, April 12, their landmark collaboration will be
reprised ––
featuring recently discovered recordings of Vince Guaraldi blended
with a live
jazz quartet, fused with Malcolm Boyd's live performance of his most
important writings.

Two performances (1:30 PM and 4 PM) will both be filmed for a new
documentary
entitled "Ralph J. Gleason Presents the Anatomy of Vince Guaraldi",
which will premiere
at this year's Monterey Jazz Festival.

Admission is complimentary and open to the public, though reservations
are
strongly advised. Available seats will be available at show time, but
RSVPs
will be accepted in advance by writing to: vince.and.malcolm at hyperfire.com
Please mention your name, preferred performance, and number of seats
requested.

This program includes mature content.

The special jazz quartet for this performance includes Marino Bambino,
Elissa Lala,
Scott Page-Pagter and Johnnie Valentino.
