[JPL] Confusing Spelling

The original recording on Blue Note was called/spelled Birdlike. Because Freddie gave up his publishing for the tune to Blue Note at the time, all subsequent recordings by him of the tune were called/spelled Byrdlike in an attempt to retain the publishing rights to that version of the tune.

OK; I have a question for all you JPLers, and after 30 minutes of
surfing I can't find an answer. With the recent passing of Freddie
Hubbard, and checking the playlists of many of you who featured his
work, I found that a single tune has been referred to in different
ways on albums and lists. Here's the question: Is it "ByrdLike"
or
"Birdlike"?
Anyone able to enlighten us on the factual reason for the difference?
