Yes, another fine effort from Tain.
Many of you might be unfamiliar with the guest pianist on the tune "Owed..."
Lawrence Fields.
Originally from St. Louis he's been in Boston for the last few years
attending Berklee and now is
dividing his time between here and NYC.
I'll be opening my program this Friday night at 8pm with Lawrence's Quartet,
recorded by WGBH
at The Berklee Performance Center on New Years Eve, as part of NPR's First
Night Celebration.
They did, among other songs, an outstanding version of "Manha De Carnival"
This music is not available commercially.
Department of Self Promotion Department:
In fact my entire show this Friday, from 8p-midnight, is made up of
exclusive WGBH archival recordings
from concerts, clubs, festivals and our own performance studios. This
version of my show is called,
"Only on 89.7"
Tune in and hear the likes of Dexter Gordon, Wynton Kelly, Michael Weiss
with Junior Cook,
Bill Pierce and James Williams, Dave McKenna and dozens of other locally
based groups.

ONE OF THE MOST ADDED RECORDS. Ready For Audition Now!
A high water mark for everyone involved..., Roditi lets his chops fly in a
joyful noise that raises everyone's game. A must hear set for all
jazz/world/Brazil fans looking for that set that goes beyond Jobim.
Dominated by Roditi original tunes, this set opens the ears in fine fashion
giving the listener a lively, meaty, full blooded date to enjoy repeatedly.
Hot stuff.

CHRISTIAN HOWES with Roger Kellaway: HEARTFELT
DEBUT @ 27 *
Howes continues to win over fans ... and radio. Please take a listen to
this exceptional player. Kellaway's piano playing is powerful and swinging
throughout. The interplay between Christian and Roger is amazingly intuitive
for a first encounter. Christian's trademark passion pours through his
instrument. Kellaway, an uber-mainstream pianist who has played with
practically every jazz violinist of note -- Stephane Grappelli, Joe Venuti,
Ray Nance, Jean-Luc Ponty, etc. -- says of the Berklee College of Music
teacher, ''I think Christian is a major talent''
''The balance Heartfelt achieves here between solo, group interplay and
orchestration is quite remarkable and leaves a lasting impression.''
