It was a pretty quiet day until the last piece on the program was announced.
As soon as I mentioned that the duo Harptallica specialized in classical
harp arrangements of Metallica songs (unlikely as that may seem), the booth
suddenly filled up with station staffers who pawed all over the jewel case,
soaked up every phrase, and in general acted as if King David himself had
returned with harp in hand. (OK, historians tell us King David actually
played the lyre, but you get the idea . . .) Personally, I don't think the
arrangements work, but sometimes it's worth playing discs that you're
ambivalent about. To the list:
