[JPL] "Different" types of Jazz Suites

Perhaps not actual suites, more narratives however here goes, Duke
Ellington’s  “A Drum is a Woman” and  Jon Hendricks’ “Evolution of a Blues
Song”.  Also,  Charlie Shaver’s “Story of a Jazz Trumpet”,  Dave Brubeck’s
“The Real Ambassadors”, Dizzy and Machito’s  “Three Afro-Cuban Jazz Moods”
the album  also includes the  15” “Oro, Incienso y Mirra” (gold, incense &
myrhh)-the gifts of the Three Kings all written by the late Arturo “Chico”
O’Farrill who also conducts the all-star orchestra. A previous post listed
Machito’s Afro Cuban Orchestra and the Afro-Cuban Jazz Suite, there is also
the “Second Afro-Cuban Jazz Suite” from the following year, both are under
the music direction of Chico O’Farrill.  On the O S T of “Calle 54”, Paquito
D’Rivera performs the “Pan American Suite” which is a voyage to Latin
America with many different styles of music being played. The (Dámaso) Pérez
Prado Orchestra’s “Concierto para Bongó”, (the bongo concert) and Irakere’s
“Misa Negra”(Black Mass), the Columbia Records live version is superior to
the Messidor Records studio version IMO. Finally, Prado also recorded  “The
Exotic Suite of the Americas” and “the Voodoo Suite”
