I've only recently heard about Kenny's singing but of course he's well known
as an impeccable percussionist and knowledgeable discographer. First met
him in about 1990 when we presented Johnny Griffin's quartet (Michael
Weiss/Dennis Irwin/KW) here in Vancouver, a buddy and I drove them down to
Seattle afterwards where JG and MW were catching a flight and DI/KW were
settling in Tommy Flanagan for a week at Jazz Alley. Everybody was playing
stump Kenny and we had a great time - incidentally JG mentioned that during
their week at Jazz Alley, Lucky Thompson dropped in to say hello which was
quite a surprise.

Said hello to KW again recently when he was here with Bill Charlap but I'm
keen to hear his vocalizing at some point, nobody's more immersed in the
music than Kenny is; I'll check it out, thanks for the link ... N
