I asked about Igor Butman a few weeks ago on JPL. He played Severance
Hall (Cleveland's equivalent to Carnegie Hall) and he killed! He is a
bad ass!! Look for his recording "Nostalgie" which IMO is fantastic!
He also has a big band based in St. Petersburg, Russia that played on
the same bandstand with LCJO and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.
Outstanding musician. Two thumbs up. I believe a trio CD with Igor,
Lenny White and George Mraz is looking for a home to be released. If
any record company is interested, email me off the list.
Aloha,
Bobby Jackson

I couldn't help noticing the absence of the latest Igor Butman CD from
the
chart and chartbound entries, it's Magic Land, a swinging, imaginative
project with Correa, Patitucci, DeJohnette, Brecker and Stefon, great
takes
on Russian cartoons music. Also missing is the Carla Bley Big Band
release,
another winner.
